What CMH Volunteers Do

CMH volunteers provide comfort and encouragement to our patients by:

  • Advocating for patients in the Medical/Surgical and Critical Care Units.
  • Serving patients and visitors as ambassadors in the information areas.
  • Working in the Gift Shop as retail clerks, buyers and accountants.
  • Sitting with dying patients at their bedside.
  • Baking cookies and distributing comfort goods to patients and families.
  • Visiting patients with Pet Therapy animals.
  • Practicing reiki and healing hands massage with patients and families.

How to Become a CMH Volunteer

  1. Complete the online volunteer application.
  2. Our volunteer services coordinator, Laura Lattig, will contact you to arrange a time to chat about your skills and interests, and the volunteer programs and projects available at CMH.
  3. Complete a drug screen, a background check and a tuberculosis skin test, all of which are provided to you without cost.
  4. Attend a 4-hour orientation with Human Resources and a 3-hour volunteer orientation and training.

The average volunteer works four hours a week for at least a six month commitment. Get involved in a dynamic group of people who are committed to give back to the community they love. Apply today!
