Columbia Memorial Hospital (CMH) employs registered dietitians (also called RDs) who specialize in diabetes education, weight management, pediatrics, eating disorders, allergies and intolerance, cancers, and heart health.

A: Maybe. It depends on your diagnosis and your insurance benefits. Contact your insurance company directly. If you need assistance with benefits and eligibility, we may be able to help.
Q: What can I expect during my appointment with a dietitian? click to open
A: The dietitian will teach you about eating well for your lifestyle and health conditions. They will work with you to help you set goals and plan meals. They will also serve as your coach as you make these sometimes difficult lifestyle changes.
Q: What should I bring to my appointment? click to open
A: Before your appointment, keep a 3-day Food Diary and bring it with you. For each thing that you eat or drink, you should write down what it is, how much you ate/drank, and the time when you ate/drank. We recommend that you include two weekdays and one weekend day.
Q: Can I bring someone with me to my appointment or to classes? click to open
A: Yes, we encourage you to bring your spouse, partner, friend, or anyone who is a support person to you. There is no additional charge to bring someone with you.
Q: Do I need a referral from my doctor? click to open
A: Yes. In order for us to bill your insurance, we will need a referral from a doctor. However, we can ask your doctor for a referral, if you do not already have one.
