CMH is an HFAP-accredited, Planetree-Designated, 25-bed Critical Access Hospital. The main hospital facility includes a medical/surgical unit, same-day and inpatient surgery units, a critical care unit, as well as a vaccine and family birthing center in Astoria. Patients served by CMH’s inpatient and surgical service units receive diagnostic testing services and laboratory services when needed, as well as access to a variety of complementary therapies and programs.
Patients admitted to CMH are cared for by our Hospitalists. A hospitalist is a physician whose primary professional focus is the medical care of hospitalized patients. The CMH Hospitalist works closely with your entire care team including your primary care provider, other specialists, and nurses to ensure you receive the high-quality care needed to help you recover from your illness, injury or surgical procedure.
Hospitalists are highly knowledgeable about the unique needs of a hospitalized person and are readily accessible to respond to each patient’s particular needs.

The CMH surgery department consists of state-of-the-art operating rooms and private and comfortable patient rooms for before and after your procedure. When you elect to have your surgery at CMH, you will be cared for by a team of experienced surgical nurses who work closely with your surgeon and nurse anesthetist to ensure you have an exceptional patient-centered experience.
After your surgery or procedure has been scheduled, our pre-admission testing nurse will work with you to complete necessary pre-operative procedures such as lab tests, x-rays, and EKGs, as well as answer questions about how to prepare for your surgery and what to expect during recovery. Both same day procedures and in-patient surgeries are done in the main hospital. You can expect a call the day before your surgery (usually between the hours of 2:00-4:00pm) to let you know what time you should arrive at the hospital the next day.

Critical Care Unit click to open
The Critical Care Unit (CCU) cares for patients of all ages in the acute, high-risk phase following a surgery, illness or injury. CCU caregivers are highly trained and driven to provide quality critical-care nursing. All nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, TEAM/TNCC (trauma) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Admitting physicians retain complete responsibility for the supervision of the treatment of their patients and work closely with the nursing staff, consulting physicians and other CMH services.

The Medical/Surgical Unit at Columbia Memorial Hospital features private patient rooms that can be equipped with over-bed frames with trapezes to facilitate ease of movement during hospitalization.
We use telemetry monitoring equipment to keep a close eye on patients’ vital signs. Our nurse call system allows patients to quickly contact their nursing team with just a push of a button.

CMH Imaging Services works with the hospitalists and admitting doctors to help diagnose and treat patients in the hospital. Imaging services are available 24 hours a day and every day of the year. Your physician will order these services as needed.

Massage therapists from CMH Rehabilitation Services routinely visit our inpatients and their Care Partners to provide a shoulder rub, hand massage or foot massage.
Pharmacy click to open
The inpatient pharmacy strives to provide excellent pharmaceutical care for all CMH patients and offers assistance meeting patients’ medication and information needs. The department works in cooperation with the nursing units to provide cost-efficient distribution, drug education and clinical services.
The CMH Outpatient Pharmacy offers free bedside delivery of prescriptions to patients before being discharged from the hospital. Ask your nurse about free delivery, or call 503-338-4560.
It is important that your medical providers know the medications you are taking. Please click here and download a copy of our Medication Information Form. Fill it out and bring a copy with you when visiting any health care provider. It is a good idea to make copies of the completed form and carry one with you at all times.

CMH Rehabilitation Services caregivers routinely visit patients in the hospital who are recovering from surgery. Our occupational, physical and speech therapists work with patients to help speed their recovery and ensure that they are ready and able to return home safely.

A respiratory therapist is in-house 24-hours each day and every day of the year to care for patients admitted to the hospital and Emergency Department. All CMH Respiratory Therapists are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation.
