Santee named Nurse of the Year

Columbia Memorial nurse awarded regional honors

For the fourth year in a row, a Columbia Memorial Hospital (CMH) nurse has received a March of Dimes’ Nurse of the Year Award.

Margaret Santee, RN, a 30-year employee at CMH, was named the 2018 Case Management, Occupational Health and Utilization Review Nurse of the Year for Oregon and Southwest Washington by the March of Dimes. She was recognized at an award ceremony in Portland on June 1, 2018. Margaret Santee, RN

The Case Management, Occupational Health and Utilization Review award goes to a nurse who reviews individual and workplace medical cases, ensuring they are getting the most appropriate care and level of support.

“Margaret’s continual commitment to the care of patients and families has brought her great success in the Care Management Department,” said Erik Thorsen, CEO. “We can always count on her for amazing clinical expertise, caring and commitment to patients. She genuinely cares for all.”

Santee joined CMH in 1988. Outside of her work at CMH, she volunteers with the 4-H program and was named a 4-H Leader of the Year in 2012 for her contributions to the Clatsop County program.

Santee is CMH’s fourth Nurse of the Year winner. Previous winners are Jenny Jacques (2017), Kendra Gohl (2016) and Laura Brown (2015).

CMH’s other Nurse of the Year finalists for 2018 were Brooke Duncan, Carlie Joy, Chris Hogan, Deanna Hogan, Emily Brizendine, Erin Irwin, Ingrid Boettcher, Jamee Meier, Jill Tillotson, Joey Brochocka, Kelsey Betts, Kristy Haglund, Lisa Harris, Mackenzie Payton, Maria Warren, Naomi Nagler, Rhonda Conrad, Rosemarie Larson, Sarah Rogers, Shannon Lackey, Sharon Wheatly, Tonia White and Trece Gurrad.
