It’s not always possible to anticipate being hospitalized; however, when you are awaiting the arrival of a new baby or planning a surgery, some forethought will help to ease your mind and make your time in the hospital more relaxed.

We encourage all patients to identify one person as their “CarePartner”. The CarePartner will be given a name tag to wear while at the hospital. The CarePartner’s role is to:
Please complete the Medication Information Form and bring it with you to the hospital. If you take any routine heart or blood pressure pills, please take your morning medication with just a sip of water before coming to the hospital or as specifically ordered by your physician.
Many comfort items are available to you while you’re at CMH, and we also encourage you to bring some things with you to help you feel more at home. Items you may want to pack:

Prior to your admission, please take a bath or shower using any type of cleansing soap. If you will be having surgery, please DO NOT shave your surgical area.
CMH is a totally tobacco-free campus. Patients are strongly encouraged to use nicotine-replacement therapies while at CMH. Using tobacco can slow down the healing process following surgery. For help quitting tobacco while you’re at the hospital, call our tobacco cessation coordinator at 503-338-7564 for more information or ask your surgeon or nurse for nicotine-replacement therapy.
