CMH’s Outpatient Pharmacies in Astoria and Seaside have implemented several changes to help keep our customers and staff safe during these challenging times. To help with social distancing, we have expanded our deliveries, now offering free home delivery to Knappa, Astoria, Olney, Warrenton, Gearhart and Seaside. We have also started offering to mail prescriptions to our customers.
At the pharmacies, we have placed yellow strips of tape on the floor to help mark where customers should stand so they can maintain the recommended six-foot distance between each other. Customers who are waiting are asked if they would like a phone call when their prescriptions are ready so they don’t have to wait in our waiting area.
When purchasing a prescription, we have reduced the number of screens customers are required to touch. We are requesting patients not pay with cash, and for patients with new or changed insurance, we have the ability to take a picture of the card so fewer items will need to be transferred to and from the cashier. We have two hand sanitizing stations, one at the door of the pharmacy and one at the register. We have also removed all magazines and newspapers from the waiting area. Work areas and register areas are sanitized multiple times throughout the day.
Based on CDC guidelines, a barrier will be installed in our register area to help shield against droplets from cough or sneezes. Per the Oregon Board of Pharmacy’s suggestions, we are avoiding routine services such as vaccinations and blood pressure monitoring that require person-to-person contact and are not required for the immediate health and safety of the individual. Additionally, we have increased our stock of Tylenol, and Emergen-C, which have recently become harder to find.
The pharmacies are now closing for lunch from 1-1:30 p.m. each day. This enables us to provide the most efficient service to our customers while we are open. Every day, before they are allowed to begin working, staff members are screened for potential COVID-19 symptoms.
We look forward to serving you safely at the CMH Outpatient Pharmacy in Astoria (open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., 503-338-4560) and CMH Seaside Community Pharmacy (open daily, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., 503-738-3006).
