(Astoria, Oregon, Sept. 23, 2019) – Columbia Memorial Hospital is pleased to present poet Karin Temple at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at the CMH-OHSU Knight Cancer Collaborative. After being diagnosed with Stage III colorectal cancer in 2018, Temple says, “I had no choice, I needed to write about it.”
The result is Life, Still and Again, a collection of 14 poems about Temple’s journey through cancer treatment. The book is Temple’s seventh, and it touches on the way cancer changes time and place, the sense of being betrayed by one’s own body, the sorrows of losing friends to cancer, the joy in everyday moments, and the eventuality of death.
Life, Still and Again is a collaboration of Temple, book designer Lucien Swerdloff and the Cancer Collaborative. It also features photography by Justin Grafton.
Please join us for a lovely evening of art and friendship.
