Congresswoman Herrera Beutler Tours CMH

Cross-border cooperation serves patients well

Columbia Memorial Hospital provides care to Pacific County residents

Rep. Jaime Herrera-Beutler speaks with CMH Director of Nursing Kendra Gohl about maternity services at CMH.

ASTORIA, Ore. – Helping her constituents have access to quality healthcare has a very personal meaning for Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington.

Over the past several months, Herrera Beutler championed this cause with Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler and health insurance provider Premera. Premera was in the process of redefining coverage areas by state lines, which would have meant that Pacific County (Wash.) residents on the plan would not have been covered at Oregon hospitals. In March 2018, Premera renewed its contract with Columbia Memorial Hospital, indefinitely.

To learn more about the impact of this decision, Herrera Beutler and Leonard Sorrin, Vice President of Congressional and Legislative Affairs for Premera, toured CMH and some of its clinics on April 3, 2018.

Over the past four years, more than 1,100 Pacific County residents covered by Premera were treated at a CMH facility, for a total of 6,455 visits.

Thank you to Herrera Beutler and Sorrin for taking the time to learn more about the vital service CMH provides to Pacific County residents.
