Medical oncologist Dr. Mark Sundermeyer joined the CMH-OHSU Knight Cancer Collaborative in early June 2020.
Dr. Sundermeyer spent the last 14 years working in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology for Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health in Abington, Pennsylvania. Since 2016, he served as its deputy division chief.
Dr. Sundermeyer is board-certified in hematology and medical oncology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He also completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center/Temple University Hospital. He is especially interested in cancer genetics and genomics, cancer therapies and benign hematology.
Dr. Sundermeyer is originally from a small town in Missouri. Throughout his career, he has worked at large health care centers. He is excited to get back to his roots and work in a smaller community and health care system where he can get to know everyone personally. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, reading, being outside and spending time with his family, including his husband, Rob, and their pets.
