Are you originally from Astoria? If not, what brought you here?
I am not originally from the North Coast, having relocated to the area when my husband’s job transferred us here in 2015.
What got you interested in recruitment?
Spending most of my professional career in community development, I fell into a project coordinator position at a hospital in Alaska where I was responsible for a variety of Medical Staff responsibilities, including physician recruitment. After relocating to the Columbia Pacific region, I was able to focus exclusively on recruitment when I took the position with CMH.
What does an average day look like for you?
Generally, I spend most of my time talking or meeting with physicians and advanced practice professionals, sharing information about what CMH and the Columbia Pacific region has to offer. When I am not busy interacting with candidates, I work to coordinate site visits and prepare marketing and job posting materials to showcase the opportunities available with CMH. In addition, I work closely with caregivers across the organization to coordinate a robust onboarding process for each new provider when they begin practicing at CMH.
What is the most enjoyable aspect of the job?
Building relationships is definitely the best part of my job. I am able to connect with individuals across the country and share how wonderful our community is.
What is the most challenging aspect of the job?
Finding the right providers — those who want to practice in a small community, with a small stand-alone hospital, in the specialties the community needs — is the most challenging aspect.
What advice do you have for providers who are looking at working at CMH?
Ask questions about anything and everything — the hospital, the community, the region and anything else that is important to you. Making the decision of where to practice is huge, and we want you to know that CMH and the North Coast is the right place for you.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, showing dogs and traveling.
