Athletic Trainer Honored by Astoria School District

Rankin Awarded for Service to Schools

Athletic trainer honored for concussion prevention work with schools.ASTORIA, Ore. – The Astoria School District presented Certified Athletic Trainer Chad Rankin with the “Tradition of Excellence Award” at a ceremony in May. Each year one community member or organization is selected to receive the award for their contributions to the school district.

“Chad does an amazing job for Astoria High School and all of the high schools he works with. He consistently goes above and beyond for these high school students, their parents, and the coaches,” said Jarrod Karnofski, VP of Ancillary & Support Services.

Rankin has worked for Columbia Memorial Hospital (CMH) hired since August 2011. CMH donates Rankin’s time and services to Clatsop County schools at no cost to the districts.

He conducts ImPACT Concussion Assessment training for the area schools and is available by phone for the coaches and parents even when he can’t be there in person. He is also a great role model for the student athletes.
