Next weekend, the CMH Relay for Life team will join other teams from around the North Coast at the Seaside High School track and field (1901 N. Holladay Dr., Seaside) to celebrate Relay for Life. Opening ceremonies begin July 13 at 10 a.m.
Once again, CMH has the privilege of being a major sponsor of this event. Our own CMH/OHSU oncologist Dr. Amrita Desai will be sharing encouraging words with participants as the guest speaker, followed by two-and-a-half-year-old Grand Marshall Daxton Olson leading the survivor lap.
This year’s theme, “Passport to Hope: Destination Cure,” gives current fighters, survivors, caregivers, friends and family the opportunity to take a walk around the world. Every tent features a different country as its theme. This year’s Relay guarantees to spark the travel bug in all of us! Visiting the CMH tent will bring you into the land of mythical Greek gods and goddesses, where visitors can eat baklava, paint rocks and have their photo taken in a toga. Donations are encouraged.
Many events are offered throughout the day, all night and into the next morning. Late night walkers can participate in a pizza party, s’mores and coffee/hot chocolate, Twister, poker laps, light-up bowling and bag toss, sing-a-longs and karaoke. Relay for Life will finish up with sunrise yoga, Zumba and a pancake breakfast, with closing ceremonies July 14 at 9 a.m.
Join our CMH team and help raise money to find a cure! There are many ways to participate. We look forward to seeing you there!
